A perfect "blessed" night

Our house is finally blessed. It was such a great evening with our families.

Although it was a bit rainy and increasingly cold the evening was great. My grandparents and close family friends flew in from NY earlier this week and so it was their first time in our home.

A deacon from the hubby's family parish did the honor of blessing our home and then my dad did his ceremonial breaking of the champagne bottle against our home. Not sure where he gets that tradition but I'm sure it dates back to breaking champagne over a ship's bow for good luck.

After the blessing we enjoyed the hard work of all the appetizer, tapas and desserts we made.

I must say everything was very good and we made almost the perfect amount.

The "house" pops were a huge hit. And they are way yummy. Even if it is way too sweet for me.

Here was our menu for the evening:

Summer Rolls with Sweet Chili Sauce via Tyler Florence Cookbook, recipe here
Ultimate Grilled Shrimp via Tyler Florence Cookbook, recipe here
Italian Chicken Salad in Lettuce Cups via Giada De Laurentis Cookbook, recipe here
Bruschetta via back of the can recipe..essentially the same recipe here
Stuffed Mushrooms via Giada de Laurentis Cookbook, recipe here
Horseradish and Garlic Roast Beef on Sourdough via Tyler Florence Cookbook, recipe here
Parmesan Tots via Rachel Ray Cookbook
Chorizo stuffed bread bites via Rachel Ray Cookbook

Now I'm off to celebrate my Mom's 50th Birthday.
